Welcome to the Perennial!

  • The Perennial is a 4 vs 4 international osu! Standard tournament with no restrictions on rank and 6 to 8 players per team.
  • All team members must be from the same region. See Team Composition Rules for details.
  • Maps will be played on Team VS with Score v2 and No Fail enabled.
  • The Perennial has a single round robin group stage and a round of 16 double elimination bracket with a bracket reset, with the top 32 teams chosen through a qualifier round.
    • In qualifiers, teams will be given points on each map equal to the percentage of the best team score earned on each map.
    • Points for each team on all maps are added up; more points earns a higher placement in the Qualifier Round.
  • The top 8 teams out of qualifiers will receive a bye to the Bracket Stage. In other words, the top 8 seeds do not need to play the Group Stage.
  • The Group Stage and Bracket Stage will follow traditional seeding.
  • Picks and Bans during the Group Stage and Bracket Stage will be staggered.
    • Acting Team Captains will !roll to determine the pick and ban order. Roll winner will choose either the pick order or the ban order, and roll loser will choose the remaining order.
    • Each team’s first ban proceeds normally, but each team’s second ban is only given after four maps have already been played.
  • Reschedules will close each weekend on Friday at 00:00 UTC. All times henceforth are in UTC.
  • All team captains must join the discord server for communication purposes.
  • Staff members may not participate with the exception of streamers, commentators, and graphic designers.
  • Official Screening will be done during qualifiers.
    • If a team has not yet played qualifiers, and a team member is screened, then the affected team may choose either to play without them or to forfeit the tournament.
    • If a team has already played qualifiers and a team member is screened, none of that player's scores will be counted.

Match Procedures

  • The referee will make the lobby for each match 10 minutes before the designated match start time and ping the team captains in the discord server to ensure teams are on time.
    • Acting Team Captains should be online at least 5 minutes before the designated match start time to receive invites from the referee to the lobby and subsequently invite their teammates.
    • If an acting team Captain is not in the lobby by the designated match start time, all of that team’s bans are forfeit.
    • If an acting team Captain is not in the lobby by 5 minutes after the designated match start time, the match is forfeit.
  • There are no restrictions on picks or bans.
  • Each team has 120 seconds to both ban and pick maps. After a map is picked, teams have 120 seconds to lock in their 4-player roster for that map.
    • Teams start each match with three timer extensions.
    • If a team does not ban, pick, or ready by the time 120 seconds have passed, they may use an extension to prolong the timer by 30 seconds.
    • If a team is unable to pick or ban within the timer after having used all three extensions, that pick or ban is skipped over. If this occurs on the first pick, both the first and second pick will be given to the other team.
    • If a team is unable to lock in a 4-player roster within the timer after having used all three strikes, the referee will start the lobby regardless.
    • Delays due to disconnection issues and other technical difficulties do not use extensions.
  • For maps in the Free Mod pool, at least 2 players on each team must take a mod.
    • Allowed mods are HD, HR, and EZ. EZ will have a 1.6x multiplier, making a SS on a map with no spinners worth 800,000 score.
    • At least one player on each team must take HD.
    • At least one player on each team must take HR or HDHR.
  • If both teams are at match point, the Tiebreaker map will be played. The Tiebreaker is Free Mod, but no mods are required.
  • In the case of a disconnection or other technical difficulties during a map, the map will only be replayed if the issue occurs less than 25% of the way into the map.
  • The roster for each team during a rematch must remain the same as the original run. If that is not possible, e.g. by virtue of a technical issue that prevents a player from entering the lobby, both teams will be allowed to swap rosters.
  • If a player disconnects mid-game, their scores will not be counted towards their team's total, unless adequate proof of said score is provided. The following are considered as acceptable proof:
    • Player point-of-view live stream snippets (commonly referred to as "clips" or "VODs"). The entirety of the play, along with the results screen must be clearly visible along with the affected player's score.
    • Replay files of the play, taken directly from the "Local scores" tab on the affected player's client (the timestamps must exactly match the time at which the game took place, as seen on the multiplayer lobby link).
    • Screenshots from other players taken directly in-game that show the affected player's score.
    • Screenshots from the results screen must clearly show the affected player's score. This is the preferred method.
    • Screenshots taken in-game at the time of disconnection may be accepted. Note that this method does not provide a one-to-one representation of that player's score. Using this method is not encouraged and it may be denied at the referee's discretion if the information provided is not sufficient to identify the player/score.
    • All screenshots must be taken using the game itself (using Shift + F12), that is, they must be hosted on the https://osu.ppy.sh/ domain. Any other form of screenshot will be denied.
    • Player scores may be derived from the official stream as a last resort, in cases where the match is streamed.
  • Results will use the highest score of the two tries between the two teams. If the score gap is irreparable, the map will not be replayed.

Team Composition Rules

  • Teams must have members all either residing within or with profile flags within the same region.
  • Teams will exclusively be scheduled based on their region and not their actual place of residence.
  • There will be three regions for this tournament:
    • The Americas and East Pacific Islands (Americas)
    • Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)
    • Asia, Australia, and Oceania (AAO)
  • The Americas includes North America, South America, and any island nations, territories, or other dominions east of the International dateline and west of North and South America.
  • EMEA includes Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
    • All countries listed in the Middle East region may only play for EMEA teams despite some of these countries being included in the list of Asian countries.
    • Kazakhstan is listed as part of Europe but may only play for AAO due to its timezone and the majority of the country being in Asia.
  • AAO includes Asia and most of Oceania.
    • Hawaii, the Cook Islands, and French Polynesia are excluded from AAO as they are all east of the international dateline and thus fall under the Americas.
    • Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are part of EMEA rather than AAO as they fall west of the Caspian Sea and have timezones closer to EMEA than AAO.
  • Players from Russia may register for teams from either EMEA or AAO, but they will be scheduled according to the overall team region.
